Aloha all, am planning my 2nd trip to FP and am very curious about exploring the island of Tahiti. I would love your input on accommodations in Papeete and if Teahupo'o warrants a stay for a couple nights. I am planning on going to Mo'orea for a few days as well. My length of stay in FP is one week and will be in September 2010. You guys were great with all your suggestions when I travelled with my cousin to FP in March '08, thanks again. Mahalo nui loa in advance.

Thank you, hamara. I have read some recent posts about how great Fare Suisse is in town. Are there any other pensions/hotels that people favor in Papeete? I'm going for the budget trip this time. Mahalos!

We stayed, several years ago, at a family-owned pension on Tahiti-Iti, near Teahupoo, called "Te Pari Village." It was a wonderful, quiet, inexpensive get-away to the "other" side of Tahiti. We went with Tahitian friends, so had no language problem with the friendly proprietors. We stayed 2 nights and 3 days; they served wonderful food, took us on boat tours of caves and snorkeling, and we had access to beaches and Teahupoo by boat. Thanks, BarbiJKM, I appreciate your help. That place looks good, especially because I'll be traveling solo.

Thank you very much, all of you who responded to my trip planning questions! I know it's six months from now but it is all booked. First night at Sofitel Tahiti, three nights at Teahupoo Blackwater Lodge, then four nights at Moorea Fare Miti. I am so fricking stoked, I can't believe it. You guys warned me that I would be hooked when I went two years ago, and I was like, sure, that ain't gonna happen. Crazy....Much mahalos!
