bsinutah you are absolutely right!! The shower was to die for. It felt like you were standing under a gentle waterfall. I loved it. There pretty much isn't anything that I didn't love about the Motu. We stayed in #128 and loved the deep water right off our deck. One day my hubby spotted a moray eel and another day we captured a shark on video that was swimming right under us. It was a magical experience that I will treasure always. We're returning to FP this coming Aug/Sept but we're not doing Bora Bora this time. We're going to try Huahine and Rangi including the Sauvage.

Funny, I thought I had a shark experience too, I almost had a heart attack. I saw what I thought was a baby shark swimming around and took a picture of it and thought, 'Oh how cute.' About 5 minutes later the damned thing swam right up to me and I started screaming through my snorkel. After getting back into the kayak, I relayed my story and was told that I saw a ramora (sp) it attaches itself to sharks but it is not a shark. It didn't make me feel better and I didn't snorkel the coral gardens area again because I was so freaked out. Luckily I had had my fill of snorkeling, this little incident happened on our last full day on BB.

Kristy We stayed on the Motu a year and a half ago. I was sitted in the water just out a few feet from the beach and a shark swam right by me. I leaped out of the water pretty fast! We've since been to the Sauvage and had even more close encounters with sharks. I've now adjusted to sharing the same space with them. Glad you're going to the Sauvage, it's quite an experience. We were there last April and are checking into going again this year for a longer stay. Definitely my favorite place having been to Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine and Rangiroa. I would agree that it's not for everyone, because it is very rustic.

"bsinutah"
I had the same experience as you in regards to the shark cleaner. It got my wife and I both excited. The guy came right at me and wanted to stay with me as long as we were at the coral gardens. When I finally got a good look at the shark cleaner, I realize that it wasn't a shark and then I got comfortable with the cleaner, my wife never did. It seemed that every time we were at the coral gardens, this cleaner found me. The first time we saw it, when we were going back to our hut, it stayed under me the whole way back to the beach huts, where we got out of the water and walked back to our hut #114. I could hear my wife laughting through her snorkle the whole way back.
