Planning a trip to BB. We want to stay at either HBB or HBB Nui. I like what I have heard about the nui -- worried that the HBB may be a bit weathered and would prefer a view of BB which I have heard the Nui does not offer. Please help me decide between these to resorts.

Haven't been to the Nui but there is absolutely nothing wrong with HBB, definitely not weathered. It's exquisitely maintained and has wonderful grounds, gardens, and bungalows. Since it was the first hotel, it has a terrific location (great snorkeling right there) and has mature vegetation. Much of the staff has worked there for decades, so they don't have the "new resort issues" that the Nui is having to some extent.

Thanks for your reply RB. I'm sure Nui is beautiful as well. What can you tell me about the views from the Nui vs HBB. Heard that the Nui has no view of BB. Are the views from HBB spectacular???

I stayed at the NUI and spent some time at the Hotel BB. I would say that the NUI is brand spanking new with great bungaloes that you would find in the style section of Vogue (which I think it was) The Hotel BB is not weathered really at all. It appeared to be kept up very well. It is tastelfully underdone. It all depends on what you are looking for. The NUI has a spa and an exercise room, which I dont think that the Hotel BB has. Most (not all) of the bungalows at the Hotel BB have a great view of Mt Otumnu, whereas only a few do at the NUI. We stayed in Bungalow #108 at the NUI and the view was really amazing with great sunsets! You do need to look for Mt Otumnu from the NUI and you can only see it in a few places. But as I have said in a couple of other posts, we still thought that the overall experience at the NUI was amazing, and we got to see BB and Mt Otumnu plenty during our stay there. You really wont go wrong in either place. Though the Hotel BB was really lovely, the NUI just seemed to us a slight step up in terms of luxury and service (but I guess that is all personal taste)

Thank you for the reply ahbnyc. I think you hit the nail on the head. I am looking for the style, luxury and service that perhaps the Nui has to offer. I JUST WANT THE BEST!
If anyone else has more comments I would realy appreciate it!!

I may be biased but I just returned from HBB and subtle class best fits as a description. The Hotel manager greets you at the dock upon arrival with sushi and champagne, the staff recognizes you by name, each night a vast amount of fragrant flowers are scattered around your bed, a quiet intimate resort with only 54 rooms the Nui looks much larger from the water, guides are waitng at the beach to sail or paddle you in an outrigger canoe, never saw one bug but 3 geckos, no shuttle needed to get to the main island, superb snorkeling directly off my OW bungalow and the very best view of the sunset and Mt Otemanu from #128 in all of the island.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds lovely. We've been thinking of splitting the time between HBB and the Nui. May be a bit of trouble but I really think they both have a good experience to offer.
