I just booked my dream vacation to Bora Bora TODAY! Acutally put the deposit down. I will be there March 17-26.... I even paid the top dollar price for the "end of pontoon o.w. bungalow".. My question would be>>> has anyone in this forum stayed in one of the "END PONTOON OW BUNGALOWS" at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort? My travel agent stated that there are 6 on the very end (protuding out of 3 fingers or rows of bungalows)in the deepest part of the waters. And also that these particular bungalows are their delux ones. Anyone stayed in the delux ow bungalows and which # of these 6 has the view to Mt. Otemanu? Thanks!

PacificStar -- We stayed in OW End of Pontoon in October of 2002. There are actually 13 end of pontoon OWB's. I think 6 of them are at the end of the long fingers of OWB's that you described. There are also 7 of them in a straight line which are separate from the three long fingers. These 7 have a better straight on view of Otemanu, similiar to the picture on their website.
We had an end of pontoon at the end of the second finger and it actually faced away from Otemanu (the back patio did anyway). We could see otemanu out the front door, so we requested a different room and ended up at one of the 7 in a row. All of which have a great view of Vaitape and Otemanu. You can watch boats come and go. More action we thought.
The water behind ours was shallow enought to snorkel to about 15 feet out, then it gets very deep. The current seems to come in continuously towards the bungalows at these 7. This is from the direction of Vaitape. Its a little choppy, but still plenty of fish. You can always snorkel at other parts of the resort too. As far as the rooms, though, I don't think there is any difference in the accomodations. You just pay for the better view. Could be wrong, we never did check out any other rooms, but they all looked the same from outside. It was worth it. You can wake up and see Otemanu out the back patio door from the bed.

WOW! Thanks Indy! I am from Athens Ohio, and my friend going with me is from Fort Wayne Indi. I looked at the picture and I understand what you are saying about the seperate row of ow bungalows facing Mt Otemanu. I stressed to our agent that we wanted the mt. O. view, and she has put the request in to the resort. But she stated the resort will not guarantee the view of the Mt. I guess I am wondering why I paid the top dollar price if I am not able to get what I requested in my views. Did you enjoy your trip? And what did you think about BBLR? Was it all you dreamed of? Today I am ordering my snorkeling gear and will be taking our own with us. Did you use the resort gear or take your own? It is nice talking to someone who has actually been to BBLR.

We returned from BBLR a few weeks ago but unfortunately didnt book deep water. The 7 OWs in front of the hotel have a direct view of Otemanu and the snorkeling in our opinion is the best there also. If you have an option go for the bungalows on the right facing Vaitape. Of the 7 out front the ones further to the left are very close to the shuttle dock and you get a pretty consistent stream of boat traffic.
We met a couple that arrived with us who stayed in the front section of deep water bungalows. They raved about the snorkeling directly off of their deck.

If you stay in any of the rows of fingers, you want to end bungalow that is on the right hand side of the pier, not the left hand side. If you are on the right, you will face Mt. O.

To Tahitian Traveler: Can I ask you what the water dept was under those seperate 7 bungalows that faces My Otemanu? And did those fare's have the glass coffee table for fish feeding in them? Thanks! :^)

I am fairly sure the interior of the OWs are all the same. The depth of the front row bungalows, off of the deck was somewhere in the 20ft range the area directly behind the bungalow was maybe 8ft in depth. You are on the edge of deeper water out front and the drop of was pretty quick. Nice coral and really good snorkeling out front in our opinion.

Our bungalow had the coffee table where the top opens or you can take it all the way off to feed the fish. There was a box with old rolls/bread from the hotel close by our bungalow to feed the fish. They like Pringles too from the fridge in the room.
We took our own mask and snorkels and used the hotels flippers. Our flippers are way too big to travel with.
We loved BBLR. We also stayed at the Nui on the trip. Its very nice and new, but no real view of Oteamnu or Vaitape since its on the backside of the motu where BBLR is.
The snorkeling is great all around the BBLR. You can walk in from the beach and snorkel out around an open area. We also took one of the hotels kayaks and went around the motu to the backside to snorkel. The only problem was tying the kayak down while we snorkled. We ended up beaching it and snorkled around, although I read where all of the land is private around the hotels and the locals don't like for you to tresspass, but we didn't see anyone. If you do the shark feeding, you will stop at a place called the coral gardens which is really impressive. About 10-15 feet deep water with plenty of fish to see.
Check out Top Dive on the main island. Great restaurant with a cool decor inside.

AC Indy and others -
Did you prefer the BBLR over Nui? If you had to select just one hotel, which would it be? How was the snorkeling at Nui? Were you able to spend time in the lagoon even though you were staying at Nui?
Thanks!
