I'm about to discover Fakarava, as Paul Gauguin is having just a few stops there this year when it does the Marquesas. I have noted with a lot of interest the south, where there are pink sands. Any info on how to get there would be greatly appreciated, or could you advise a non-diving activity for the day. Would love to photograph its beauty!!

Snorkelling at the south pass is out of this world. Sorry I can't give you any tips about how to get there, though.

You could probably hire a boat to get to the south pass but at a big expense, and Poehere could probably get you a contact. Fakarava is my favorite place in the world. It's so worth it and you will never forget what you see and experience. There are nice pictures of south Fakarava at raimiti.com. If you were staying at the Raimiti pension, the owners would come and pick you up in Rotoava.

Thank you rodjune. Had a look at the website. Beautiful!!!!! I can see why it's being kept secret. I guess we will have to see what happens when we get there. It's a shame though, because it seems so beautiful, and we do not want to miss a "must see". I will keep looking for info!! Appreciate the help though!
