Tahiti Luxury Resort project launched in Punaauia

April 28 2010 at 3:40pm | source: Tahitipresse | No Comments

The Tahiti Luxury Resort project has been launched Tuesday in Tahiti's west coast commune of Punaauia. Construction of this five stars project should be completed by 2013.

French Polynesia President Gaston Tong Sang and Tourism minister Steeve Hamblin stressed the importance of this project.

They both claimed this timeshare units will boost French Polynesia's ailing tourism industry.

Hamblin said the concept targets persons who want to go on vacation with their family.

The construction should be completed in three years and tourism figures should again go up by 2013, Hamblin added.

Hamblin said he was confident tourism figures would in fact go up again for French Polynesia as early as 2011.

This new resort will include no less than 84 units and a large swimming-pool.

This system will also enable visitors to frequently return to Tahiti and Her Islands.

The Tahiti Luxury Resort project will reportedly cost US$ 40,975,000/€ 31,000,000.

On Tahiti itself? Whose pocket are they in? Sounds like a weird place to put timeshares.

Interesting. I thought timeshare was not going to be permitted anymore in FP. Perhaps this is another of the sort that was built on Moorea a year or two ago that requires the purchase of several weeks to circumvent the prohibition--??? (I don't think they call that "timeshare.")

Agree with OW that the location is curious.

It is right next to the Manava Suite hotel, 5 story building with 2 last floors appartments with long lease... it is an alternative for the Taha'a project (by same developer) that never got off the ground...
