I am planning our first trp to FB and found this website very useful and informative. My boyfriend and I are panning to go around Dec 21st and stay for 7 nights. This is what I have in mind: 4 nights in Moorea at the Pearl then 3 Nights in Bora Bora at the Pearl both OWB. Can you please give me your opinions on the hotel and the amount of time we are staying at each place. We are in our 20's-30's and like to have fun and are active but also want to relax from our busy work lives. I greatly value any opinions and suggestions you make. Thanks :)

Hi Belinda and welcome to the forum. We haven't stayed at Pearl
Moorea yet, but we have stayed at Pearl BB in both a Beach and POWB and are going back there this November. In my opinion, the Pearl resorts have the best "feel" - not the biggest rooms but excellent service. We've also stayed at Pearls on Manihi, Tikehau and Le Taha'a twice. Are you allowing pre and post nights in Papeete? Long way to go for only 7 nights? For your first visit to BB, 3 nights will not be enough. I'd go 5 and 5. The sPM website has a heap of info about the Pearl resorts http://smpdevel.com/ and there is also good info on the main page of Tahiti Explorer.

Both Pearls are beautiful! Make sure to check out the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor.

If you are locked into a 7-day package, then I think your split of 4 nights on Moorea and 3 nights on Bora Bora is perfect. But, as Gary & Cath suggest, if you could extend your stay to 10 days total, 5 and 5 would be great too!

The Pearl Moorea is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants in Maharepa. You might want to consider reserving your Christmas dinner somewhere nearby instead of doing the very expensive resort holiday meal. (And try to avoid traveling between islands on Christmas day as well.)

I miss the days of when people asked for island advice... While you may only be able to do 7 nights, you'll wish you could do at least 9 or 10 between two islands. Stretch that budget - you won't be sorry. It will be a trip of a lifetime.
