Sorry if this has been covered before:
How easy/hard is it to get to the main idland on Bora Bora from the Pearl Beach resort? I'd definitly like to do some exploring on the island, and if it's difficult, this could affect my choice of hotel.
If you could give me how long it takes, where it dumps you, regularity, and how late they run, it'd be much appreciated.
Cheers,
-Andrew.

All the hotels on motus have free shuttles to the main island. They're usually fairly regular (like every hour or half hour). The Pearl Beach is closer to the main town of Vaitape than the other main hotels. The drop off point was somewhere mid way between Vaitape and Matira beach I gather; but I heard that they may be also offering a free shuttle to Vaitape itself. You can either do the jeep 4x4 tour or rent a car to see the island. To go to other restaurants other than the PB restaurant, take the free shuttle to the main island and then the restaurant sends a pickup bus to get you to take you to dinner. (Top Dive, Bloody Mary's etc all do this free). You're right, this has been covered before, but I know what it's like to be new to something. Also do a search on Pearl Beach shuttle etc for more specific info.

The boat from th PB BB leaves form the dock about every hour. There is a bus which stops at the landing and takes about 10 minutes to get to Vaitape. The amount of time it took to get from PB BB to town, do some marketing and return was less than an hour, usually about 40 minutes. Transportation to Bloody Mary's and Top Dive was easy as well.

Excellent, thanks guys.
I think I'll go Pearl Beach then. The fact that the restaurants will pick you up is definitly key.
One further question: how late do the boats run? Couple that with how late do things stay open on Bora Bora itself, and my questions are done.
Thanks!
-Andrew.

s I recall, they stop about 10:00 or 10:30 p.m. Our experience showed thta after a full day of tours and snorkeling, we got an early dinner and wre in bed by 10:00 p.m. BB is not a nightlife haven (thank godness), but very romantic.

If you go to the Pearl Beach website, http://www.pearlbeachresorts.com , go to the PB BB webpage, and click on the downloads button. They had their boat schedule w/ connecting bus information on the website available for printing.
Have fun!
