The La Plantation Restaurant on Moorea looks like a very nice place from viewing their website.
Anyone been there ?
What kind of food do they serve. Only seafood ?
Unfortuently their website only give a very general description of menu and prices.
Is it a la carte menue or set menu with set prioe ?

Plantation is closed. Or at least it was in April 2010.

Wait to hear from Barbi (who is there right now) on this closing. I hadn't heard about it before this. It's possible it may have only been closed when jeff was there is April. It is not unusual for restaurants over there to close for a couple weeks or even a month each year so the owners and staff can have a vacation.
Problem is with French Polynesia right now is tourism is off so much many places are having trouble staying in business.
Tiki Village should be open. But it is only open 3 or 4 nights a weeks.

Hey Morty I don't think the fact that business' are up for sale changes the beauty and charm of FP, so I really don't think the trip will a disappointment at all (IMHO).
La Plantation is still open it serves French food with a mix of Tahitian specialities, not just sea food (yes, it is for sale but that don't mean anything here as most business' boutiques, resto's etc are up for sale all the time and allways have been in rich and poor times)
Tiki Village is open and still doing shows which are one of the best in Moorea (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening 6pm to 9 pm) and a visit to the actual village is still pretty educational in the sense that they demonstrate of lot of the Polynesian culture (sculpting, tatooing etc) by people that actual live in the Tiki Village, village hours are normally Tuesday thru Saturday 11 am to 3 pm
Traditional Polynesian dance shows can also be watched at the various (large) hotels/resorts which have shows on certain evenings

I ate at La Plantation when I was last there (about a year and a half). Good food, good service and a nice atmosphere. There was no entertainment when I was there but it was still a nice experience and a nice quiet dine.
