Here is a link to the Ferry schedule page. It looks like the ferry is running an amended schedule JUST this Saturday and Sunday. Then they go back to their regular one.

Air Moorea will close shop at the end of October (2010) so anyone wanting to fly to Moorea should book with Air Tahiti now.
Apparantly Moorea Express is following... so for fast ferry to Moorea get on the Aremiti. At least it will simplify choosing a Moorea connection lol

Wow! Too bad about Air Moorea. But not unexpected.
And it really doesn't surprise me about Moorea Express ferry. I alwasy wondered how both of them could stay in business.

Just returning from Moorea, we were told that Air Moorea will cease flights on October 15. One plane has been sold and the other will be going to the Marquesas. Air Tahiti has so far not yet indicated it will be picking up the schedule; so far, AT is only flying to Moorea as part of its Air Pass packages. This may not be the final news though...
Things on Moorea are tough. Dany Creations closed this week. Alfredo's has been sold and is now Le Martinez. Moorea Camping has been sold to Bonduelle (the folks who own Trois Brasseurs in Tahiti), and no indication so far what they will do with the land. We heard rumors that Vai Moana hotel is now closed too.
Making transportation to Moorea more difficult is only going to further hurt tourism there...
I'll report on more local Moorea news when we get home and unpacked; we're still transiting home in LAX.

A press conference was held yesterday and Air Tahiti (mother company of Air Moorea) announced that it will increase its flights to Moorea but at a higher air fare...
It will be interesting to see what happens though as the Moorea residents who work in Tahiti prefer taking the ferry anyways and FP would need a lot more tourists in order to justify Air Tahiti increasing Moorea flights with ATR type planes taking 3 or 4 times the number of passengers than the Air Moorea Twin otters.
Also AT is now asking financial aid from the government and with all treasure boxes being empty... that seems unlikely to happen and the government just injected a couple of million $$$$ into Air Tahiti Nui to "relook" the cabins of it's airbusses

Lan Chile is cutting back and will have one flight per week as per December to serve Tahiti (Santiago - Easter Island - Papeete route)
The tourist minister did talk about being in discussion with airlines to get a so called low cost service for FP...
