My fiancee and I are going to Bora Bora in October. We are staying in the OW bungalow at the Le Meridien and would like feedback on the hotel, its services and rooms.

We just returned from FP(our honeymoon)and Le Meridan Bora Bora was one of our stops. I thoroughly enjoyed the resort itself, but to be honest found the bungalows to be quiet dark, dreary, and quite cramped. However, I may just be biased in comparing the bungalows to the other resorts we visited. The resort has unparalled views of the main island of Bora Bora(very dramtic scenery)and the grounds are definitely lush and well cared for. The staff is professional, but not nearly as warm as the other resorts we visited, but still no problems at all. They have a nice pool, great bar, and tons of free activities. The lagoon with the turtles and other sea creatures was wonderful, and made the stay worthwhile. The overwater ala carte restuarant was pretty and the food very good, but the buffet is unappealling and overpriced $120. for two adults. The resort is quite expansive and busy, but you still feel like you are secluded, so that's a positive. We thoroughly enjoyed the shark/ray feeding excursion with Tevia Tours(5 hours) GREAT fun, and Bloody Mary's on the main island of Bora Bora was yummy and fun too.

Overall I would rate Le Meridan 4 out of 5. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

Happy Traveling!

One question: In which OWB (number) did you stay? I'm going to BB in August and I'd like to make the reservation in Le Meridien, but I'm trying to figure out which is the best OWB before.

Thanks in advcance...

My husband and I went to Le Meridian in July 02 for our honeymoon and I thought that the resort was absolutely wonderful!
We had a Deep Overwater Bungalow and the room was beautiful- we had a great view of the island, the service was incredible and the activities were the best! The breakfast was great and we did have dinner at the hotel a few times and thought that it was really nice! (and this is coming from 2 people who love gourmet dining.) We did the buffet one night and the a la carte (which was really good.) we did try Bloody Mary's and thought that the environment was a lot of fun but that the food was alright- definitely worth the visit though.
I would really recommend the Private Picnic on the Motu- you get to spend an entire day on a boat with no other guests and go shark feeding, ray feeding and then to a island where the set up a picnic in the water!
I loved Le Meridian- you will love it!

Agree on the buffet, it was way over priced at $60. I went to the host and asked the difference between the buffet and the menu dining. He says the menu dining has much better food and a higher quality of service. So we are asking ourselves why is it 1/2 the price. I think they pump up the buffet price so the folks that get the meal package think they are saving money. Also the cocktail prices are upside down, beer was $4 wine I think was $6 but a tropical drink was $15 yikes. Of course everyting would have been cheaper a couple of months ago before bushenomics killed the dollar.

Here you go, mnmauth.com

We were there in January. The rooms were kind of small, the deck was smaller, there was no snorkeling other than the turtle sanctuary, which was great. The food was sub-par, the service was ok, and it was very touristy in my opinion.

We are leaving in April and staying on Bora Bora at Le Meridian..does the hotel furnish a van/car to Bloody Mary's? If so..how often does it go back and forth? You mentioned about the meal plans,,,we bought one...does that just include the buffet?

We had dinners at Bloody Marys and Top Dive in both cases the restaurant picks you up (I think they charged $5 on the dinner bill). When you call up and make a reservation they tell you what time to take the launch and they meet you on the other side. After dinner they said they had 2 times when you could go back. It worked out fine in fact it was a good time to meet some other folks at the Le Meridian. For the dinner package you can either have the buffet or have credit in the menu dining. It think I read it was about $38 credit for dinner. The thing to keep in mind in Bora Bora is, its not Hawaii, it is much more of adventure. Things are not as conveniant but if you work with the staff they do a very good job of getting you around.
