Maybe TT is "tourist to tourist" or "traveller to traveller" since some of us buy XPFs from each other, LOL!

BB is definitely cash, TC is definitely traveler's checks, and TT is probably the bank to bank rate (the one that shows on xe.com); this is the rate you MAY get on an ATM or cash advance but that's before the transfer fees and exchange fees that your credit card may impose. On the home page of this website is a link to a current exchange rate table from Socredo Bank. "Achat" means "buy" and "vende" means sell.
The banks in FP also charge a flat rate exchange transaction fee, which is the same regardless of amount exchanged. We have found the airport bank to have a lower fee (around 470 cpf) as compared to the banks in town (1100f to 1600f) per transaction.

Thank you everyone for all the info. We're cruising on the Royal Princess so visiting several islands where different tour operators seem to accept different currencies. Euros seems to give us the best exchange rate (we're from the UK) so we'll pay with these where we can but will follow your suggestion of changing up our sterling at the airport.
Thank you again.

Tizkay,
Just for your info, the Euro is permanently fixed to the Tahitian franc at a rate of 119.33 cpf/1 Euro. The British sterling will fluctuate from day to day with the currency markets.
