For starters it NOT for 4 or 5 days! Woot! Woot! It's for 10 days....better, but not fanstastic....but certainly better than 4-5 days.
30% discount....$906 fare. Not bad...not great at all, but not too bad.
Dates are ....Jan-7-2011 through March-31-2011, and Nov-1-2011 through Dec-14-2011

ATN flunks math again. The longer you stay equals
1.More Hotel or Pension income for FP
2.People do have to eat so more income for restaurants
3.More tours taken means more income for tour operators
4.More tax income for the Government to spend
5.More wages paid to folks who work in the tourist industry.

1.Des Hôtel ou du revenu de pension pour les FP
2.Placement ne faut manger un revenu d'autant plus pour les restaurants
3.More Tours pris des moyens plus de revenus pour les voyagistes
impôt sur le revenu 4.More pour le gouvernement à dépenser
les salaires versés aux 5.More gens qui travaillent dans l'industrie touristique

Hey come on Hamara! They know their math!....10 days is TWICE as good as the 4-5 day ones! LOL!
Obviously this is only for the low season. Why have a stay requirement at all? Leave it open or at least let people stay 30 days in the low season! It's not like they have tons of tourists that time of year anyway!
If we go next year, it will be for 2 weeks...so unless ATN comes up with something better, looks like I'll be flying Air France again.

ROTFLMAO!! It gets even better....try going to the ATN site and plugging in dates. I can't even find a $906 fare. Best I can find is $979.....and it is only available one day a week...here and there. Some weeks within their fare sale period you can't find a sale at all. AND...they don't even have dates for Nov/Dec 2011 available yet....it only goes up to July.
And...the 10 days is NOT 10 nights...it's only 9 nights!
Trying to understand ATN just makes my brain hurt.

I just received an e mail from Air Tahiti Nui.
$906.00 for a maximum 10 days 9 nights.
That's good for you West Coast guys?
You would think that with the tourist ind. tanking they would
have a 15 or more offer to entice people from the East?
For 10 days this offer is useless for us.

Well, it's not dumber than 4 or 5 days, but it's still dumb.
I agree with Hamara-why the limits when tourists bring in money?
It''s such a travel haul because for us it means a plane from our city to Minneapolis, then to LA, then to Papeete. It basically ends up being 24 hours.
For new visitors, it may not be appealing. The first year we went, we left in the AM and were on Moorea that evening.
But with all the flight cut backs, that's impossible for us nowadays.
I think pretty open ended with dates that may be anticipated to be a little lower in travelers would be smarter. Then first timers might see they could choose a longer stay if they could fly a few days later.
Islands magazine had Moorea as a great island on which to retire. A lot of people are retiring and they may choose to stay in FP for awhile longer,. But if they have never been and want to take an exploratory trip, the air fare may head them in another direction.
