I guess another thing to consider as well is cost savings if you stay at one hotel chain throughout your stay.

(new paragraph)

Not sure what deals you can get from the US but our local Tahiti specialist TA has better deals on offer if you stay with the one hotel chain and at the moment is also offering free breakfast and dinner plans as well.

Check out the link below for specials from Pearl/Hilton inspired by the Bachorlette:

I have just returned from Bora Bora and Mo'orea. The trade winds blew relentlessly and howled around our OWB in the Marlon Brando Complex on the north of the island opposite the airport. Great bungalow but friends who stayed at the Sofitel felt they had the better deal - they could get out of the wind by going to the Motu and using beach on the other side. Sofitel allows guests use of main island complex and the motu complex. Has great snorkelling - so worked for them very well. Having a car was very important for us. Shopped for lots of our food at Chin Lees Magasin in Vaitape. Great selection.

Bora Bora can be really windy! I sure didn't enjoy that when we were at the Sofitel Motu (the backside of the motu was quiet, but where the bungalows were was windy). My husband liked to sit out and read in the wind, but I tended to sit inside when I wasn't snorkelling or walking around.

Where did you stay in Moorea?

This time of year, the mara'amu wind blows from the southeast. Good idea to request a room facing in another direction.
