A few months ago on TV here in the UK there was a journalist who stayed on Moorea in a hotel that had a dolphin swimming in a pool. Any idea which hotel this is and if that dolphin is still there?

It's the Dolphin Encounter at the Intercontinental Hotel. Yes the dolphins are still there. You can swim with them...but it's not cheap. They have various packages depending on how much time you wish to spend with the dolphins and how private.

You can also stand for free on the bridge and walkway and watch others swim with the dolphins for free (can you tell what we did?).

Or you can stay in beach bungalow 303 and watch all the action for free without leaving your room:)

LOl I would tend to stand on the bridge. I can see them all year here anyway because we have a resident pod. I think I was hoping that there wasn't anything so tacky - I prefer them in the wild. ;)

If you take a circle island tour with Bernard from the IC, you'll probably see wild spinner dolphins surfing the waves at the passes into the lagoon.

And it really isn't in a pool. It's in a little 'bay' off the lagoon (that's fenced off) so it's salt water.

If you are looking for solitude, that is not your hotel to stay at.

I'm heading for Huahine and avoiding the multinationals. I saw our pod this morning around 6.30am cavorting around just off one of our headlands. :)

It's a great and unique experience swimming with the dolphins. You should try it and stay near to that dolphin thing.
