I hope that you like it and give us a trip report when you come back. When are you leaving?

I've noticed on some pics on other sites about Huahine that that particular area looked 'muddy' right along that bay up to where a river seems to be then it clears to normal coastline. Basically, it looked as if a river poured out a load of mud. Surely it's nothing to object to and there's plenty of places you could row a canoe to. Having said that I once spent two weeks in a five star hotel in Greece and it was a nightmare!

yes, that is true about the river. It could have been right after a storm.

Do you like the isolation idea of the place? Is that what has you hooked?

Partly, I like to go to places that are off the proverbial beaten track. I did that in India, four times, and I have friends from India who have kept in contact with me for over ten years. The 'under dog' makes me wonder why it's that way. I think that when I get there it will be just as enjoyable as the travel books say it is. I've been a 'tourist' twice in my sojourns abroad. I also have friends in Corpus Christi who I had never met (we met in a Tina Turner forum) but she and her husband came over for a holiday and I drove them to places they would never see as a tourist So, I have a feeling, unsubstantiated, that this pension - rats and crabs and all - will be like everywhere else; you see what you see and live with it; it's not going to be that bad. Plus, when you stay with local people they will show you things you wouldn't necessarily see as a part of a day trip from a ship.

The isolation of this pension may just inspire visions of what Tahiti and her island were like 300 years ago - I would LOVE to have seen the Tahitian islands back then.

Huahine is not a hundred years ago, but it's 50. There will be too many modern fishing boats and kayaks going by to think it's that long ago. The boats are just little fishing boats, not trawlers. And sail boats out in the bay.

It will be good, I am sure.
