$500 is still steep for a couple, but it's what you work and save for.

We have friends that think we are crazy for going and spending the money that we do to go to FP. So, it's all relative.

Sabine, you should ask around on this forum and see if anyone else is travelling at the same time you are so you can try and share the tour!!

that's a good idea G and C. Also, if you sign up for the tour, it's possible that you will be the only ones and you will get to go anyway .

Sometimes, they do have a minimum before they will go out on the tour, but maybe with the tourist decline, they will do it anyway.

There may be overhead costs that they must meet, but I have no way of knowing.

I met one couple on trip advisor already, but we'd love a third to help bring it down a little more. My husband is not convinced that $600 (it would be $300 pp for the 4 of us) is worth it... maybe it will be only 3 people and he can stay at the hotel then!

just to clarify, talking about Patrick's combo tour on BB now, not the Huahine Nautique one, which we are doing the $100 pp group tour.

Yes, Sabine, Patricks BB tour, this is the info that I received from him last year re the Combi tour:

COMBI tour (lagoon + feast+ mountain) is 1000 US$.

http://www.maohinui.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21&Itemid=

I would email Patrick and check with him how many couples he will actually take on the private tours (I'm thinking only two couples but could be wrong). Otherwise see if you can book a group one through your hotel on BB because he does still do bookings through the hotels as well.

I'm with you Holte, I think usually there used to be a minimum for any excursions but with the decline .....

When we were on Manihi we were the only ones that went out for the day trip (motu picnic) and there was supposed to be a minimum of 4 persons (there was actually only a total of four couples at the resort so the staff were only too happy to take us anywhere:)

Thank you Poehere! Looks like I may have another couple lined up for a Maohi Nui trip, but if that falls through I am going to go with that company, they look good. :)
