Thanks Barbi. This is a great report. Also thanks for the info on Coco Beach. I had been to the restaurant on the motu before and we were really looking forward to going back in May, so this info is very helpful. I also hope they increase their hours so that they are open more than just the weekend.
Is it difficult to adjust to everyday life back in the states?

Carrie, It's amazing how quickly that "vacation bounce" (Holte invented the phrase!) wears off, especially after two months away. There was so much to catch up on at home after so long away that we hit the ground running! But there was a certain amount of "culture shock" -- being reintroduced to TV, newspapers, people speaking very-fast motor-mouth English, our funny-looking (ugly) American money, and TIPPING!
On the plus side, it was good to see our kids, grandkids, and dogs again!

American money is funny looking and ugly? Granted it's not colorful but we love our greenbacks......even if they aren't worth much these days.

Money in other countries looks like play money to me so I spend it a lot more than I do at home.

After two months of using CPFs, American money looked tiny and ugly to us! No beautiful Tahitian women on the front, no pretty Tahitian fares on the back...

As always, I enjoyed your report. Our aborted trip last year at this time was supposed to be 2 wks. in the Cooks and 1 wk. in Fakarava...ended up, because of an elderly parent, going to Hawaii instead (for our 1st. time!) for just 2 wks.....Don't know when we'll get to take that 3 wk. trip, but will file away your Cook Islands observations for future use...Thanks for taking time to record it here for all us tropical island junkies.

When I heard you had done a trip to the Cooks, Barbie, I went looking for it. You didn't fail me - there it was. Probaby some of the details will have changed since you were there as it will be 2 years between your trip and ours next Sept., but alot of the information you reported on will be very helpful. Thx.
