Sofitel Motu question

We will be in Bora Bora and can't wait! I'm curious if anyone has stayed in the "treetop" bugalows at the Sofitel Motu. They look amazing/private/unique... so we are looking for opinions Also, if we decide we want to stay in an OWB instead, does anyone know how much it is to "upgrade" per night?

I think you must mean the Shearton Nui. I didn't see any treetop bungalows at the Sofitel Motu, but maybe I'm wrong??? We toured all the resorts of Bora Bora(we stayed at Le Meridan) and although I can't speak firsthand in terms of true experience, we thought the treetops looked so unique and amazing. We said on returning we would probably stay overwater on Taha'a again and in a treetop at the Nui on Bora Bora instead of OWB. They really look so cool and tropical...unlike anything else. The OWB are great too, but there are so many of them at the Nui, but at the Sofitel Motu the OWB are wonderful and private(very intimate resort)>
Good Luck!
Heather

Hi Heather- Thanks for responding The Motu says they have treetop bungalows but they must be different than the Sheraton Nui treetops. From the pictures I've seen the Motu treetop bungalows are on stilts on the beach and look like they are at the same level as the trees. Thanks for your input on the Motu and we can't wait for our trip! By the way, we found out about an Omni-Max/I-Max film called Coral Garden and we saw it today. A husband/wife team dive the South Pacific and it shows Moorea & Bora Bora in the film... amazing footage! Thanks again

Where did you find the IMAX? At the local Blockbuster or was it being shown at a theatre?
As for the treetops at the Motu, they looked fabulous, but you might have more of a problem with 'creature' in a treetop bungalow than an OWB. We stayed in an OWB at the Motu last November and loved it. If you do a search on treetop bungalows and sofitel motu, you might be able to find some posts from a while ago. I'm sure I remember people posting who had stayed in a treetop bungalow at the Motu.

You can find info about Coral Reef Adventure here: http:www.coralfilm.com . You can check to see if/when it's playing at an IMAX/OMNIMAX theater near you!
The sites they dove and filmed are Tahiti and Rangiroa, at least that's what they discuss on the site (in addition to Fiji and Great Barrier Reef). I didn't know they also show Moorea and Bora Bora! Can't wait- I'm going to see it this weekend. It opened here at the Boston Museum of Science on Feb 14 (world premiere!), but I was in French Polynesia, experiencing the real thing! (Pictures here: http://ktravers.smugmug.com/Travel/226).
I stayed in one of the treetop bungalows at the Sofitel Motu last year- loved it! You can see some pix here: http://home.attbi.com/%7evsejnoha/Tahiti02/BB/FrameSet.htm

ktravers Thanks so much for that info. I'm from MA as well, and can't wait to go see the IMAX film here in Boston.
Great info! Heather

pofqal I'm sorry that I didn't realize there were treetop bungalows at the Motu. I'm sure they're great. Sofitel Motu looked like a fabulous resort. Very romantic and intimate.
Have A Wonderful Time! Heather

To: ilovepac... no worries, thanks for writing.
To: ktravers... yes, you are correct The dive is in Rangiroa and they show beautiful bird's eye views of Moorea & Bora Bora (I *wish* they showed dives there). I'll definitely check out your pics... thanks for the links!
To: bsinutah... thanks for the advice & I hope the movie comes to Utah soon.
