Thanks for the photos, Anastaplo. They make it all more real (and sadder).

Wow...this really is horrible. I wonder if he's going to try to rebuild or not.
And...Anastaplo...or antipasto (as I always see you name!)...you still have time. You aren't "officially" late until a year has passed. Although sooner is better....because we are a bit impatient! Maybe this will be the impetus you needed to get it posted!

that was such a great inexpensive place to stay on BB. I hope they do rebuild and the price can remain inexpensive.

Well it’s really sad to hear about Chez Nono. Had stayed there, spent 4 nights in the big round bungalow on the beach. The bungalow itself was pretty cool as it was placed on the beach itself. Wish they built it back again if not better but the same way.

P = back from wandering around LOL
Really sad about Nono and also very shocking as the fire apparantly roamed around with such a high speed that people who were having a siësta could barely get themselves and luggage out and did not even have time to go back getting their valuables...
The firemen said that it was due to an electrical circuit problem caused by tourists leaving appliances branched... well now that was a crazy remark because IMHO if their electrical system is/was branched according to normal safety requirements it would shut down automatically and immediately whenever such a problem occurs... hmmmmmmmmmmm
But indeed sad because people lost passports, tickets and whatever complicating their return or ongoing trip greatly.
No news yet about any rebuilding plans...............

Just read a post over on the Lonely Planet Thorntree forum. A fellow with a reservation at Chez Nono in April emailed them to find out what was up (as he had only recently heard about the fire).
He was notified that: "The beach bungalows were spared. It was the communal kitchen building that burnt down."
