We are thinking of trying out the Cooks and were wondering..has anyone stayed at the Rarotonga Beach Bungalows or Tamanu Beach (Aitutaki)?

We've stayed at the Edgewater Resort years ago. I have RBB on my IE favotites. One of these days we'll go back.

We were on Raro and Aitutaki this past summer. Stayed at a place on Raro that I would not recommend, and stayed at Inano Beach Bungalows on Aitutaki, which we liked very much! Check reviews on Trip Advisor.

Barbi & Joe, which FP islands do Raro & Aitutaki "compare" with, in your opinion? We love Huahine, so we're hoping to find something similar in the Cooks..

Finnano, Raro is like a smaller Tahiti, while Aitutaki is like a less developed Bora Bora. Raro has a lot of 'town' and Aitutaki has almost nothing, at least when we were there. Which was quite a few years ago. I liked Aitutaki better. It's lagoon is very close to Bora Bora.

Thanks, Barbi, Joe.
Barbi, Inano looks pretty fantastic...
Joe, of Tahiti we've only seen Papeete and didn't care for it very much. If you went back to Cooks, where would you stay 7+5 nights?

We liked Raro much more than we like Papeete. Lots to do, but not as crowded or busy as Papeete, and the island is smaller than Tahiti. There is an excellent bus service that runs around the island, so transportation is easy. If I were to go back to Raro, I'd stay in the Muri Beach area.

Aitutaki is small, stores are few and not well stocked (at least when we were there in August, when the cargo ship was overdue), but the people are SO friendly and the lagoon is extremely beautiful!

Most folks think the Cooks are cheaper than FP, because the airfare is usually less, and because the exchange rate is better for the NZD. However, we found grocery and restaurant and souvenir prices to be much more than in FP, when the exchange rate was considered/compared.

Finnano,

We had lunch one day at Tamanu Beach (also know NZ friends who stayed there), and it was lovely! You might want to also check out Etu Moana!
