So my Fiance, Farris and I are thinking about Moorea or Huahine for our destination wedding late this summer. I have been to FP twice - staying at Les Tipapnier iti on Moorea and Mama Roro and the closed Sofitel on Huahune - where we met Jim Anderson, who amazingly put us up in one of the OWB there for free. I absolutely love it FP and it is top of my list for our wedding. I have actually been there for a wedding at Les Tipaniers, which I loved... but I wouldn't want to repeat what they did.

We are looking at about 35-40 family and friends coming and and would like to keep it simple. On the beach before sunset without much fanfare for the ceremony and then at a very close restaurant for the casual reception/dinner. We are paying for a few family and thus have to be cost conscious about where and yet want it to be perfect. Taking the big resorts out of the picture, I thought I would consult the experts.

Thoughts?

Where are you planning on having your guests stay? If you are taking the big resorts out of the picture, there are very few smaller places that would be able to accommodate 35-40 people. Or...are you just saying you don't want to have the ceremony at a big resort?....but the guests would be staying at a resort?

I think we will give guests the option of staying where they prefer. The location for the wedding is most important and if there are some accommodations for guests there, then that is great though we also want some privacy as it will be our honeymoon as well.

The wedding I went to had 34 guests and they stayed in 4 different places...

If you want Huahine, I'd look into Pension Mauarii and the Relais Mahana at the south end of the island. I've only visited one very shortly (I think it was the Relais Mahana) but it would accommodate a fair number of people and has a beautiful beach.

I answered on your other thread. I am all for your wedding on Huahine. Lot's of choices and ideas for Huahine.

The Sofitel is in ruins.

Moorea will a much cheaper location for your guests to get to than Huahine, but either island will make a beautiful location!
