Hi All,

We are going to FP on late March 2011. We have the air tickets from our home country to Tahiti, and now we are starting to decide which islands we will visit.

For now, we know that we will go to, at least, Bora Bora and one of the Tuamotu islands. For that reason, we plan getting an AirPass from Air Tahiti.

The question is: Is it possible to buy the AirPass online? What about the flights? Can we book a place for each individual flight in advance..? We do not want to wait to arrive at Tahiti to make the reservations...

Any help is welcomed, thanks.

Yes, you can book online at www.airtahiti.com for the AirPass in advance.

I have also been wondering exactly what benifits the airpass gives you. it does not seem cheaper then regular air fare.

If you are doing multiple islands it does give you a savings. BUT, you have to follow their rules on island order, etc. They are not very flexible for changes.

Thanks for the information.

I think that in our case the Pass is cheaper, because we are planning many flights:

- Tahiti -> Maupiti
- Maupiti -> Tahaa
- Tahaa -> Bora Bora
- Bora Bora -> one of the Tuamotus
- one of the Tuamotus -> Tahiti

I will soon ask questions in the other forums, about advice on choosing the final list of islands to visit.

DVK,

Your itinerary sounds complicated, so before deciding the order in which you want to visit these islands, check the flight schedules, because not all flights are available on all dates to each island.

Thanks, we are now trying to find the correct flights.
The more difficult part seems to be the Tuamotus flights.

We are also now trying to reserve hotels, but it's is difficult as they depend also on the flights.. :)

DVK - I've just been through all that exercise with the same itineray!! It's tricky but it can be done depending on how much time you have and how much time you want to spend on each island. In some instance, the flight schedule would only allow a couple of days on one island before you had to take the flight to the other (especially when it comes to Maupiti and flights beteen Bora and the Tuamotus).

Because I wanted to go to Fakarava first, I ended up paying a small extra fee to return to Tahiti before making the Tahiti-Bora-Maupiti-Moorea tour. It turned out better for me because of the number of days I wanted on each island.

Best is to print the flight schedule in excel (sort them by destination or days) and have a blank calendar in front of you!!

Good luck!

Andie, aren't you allowed to touch down in Tahiti in between the Tuamotus and the Society Islands without a charge (or did you stay for awhile in Tahiti)? We did them in the opposite order (Tahiti/Moorea/Huahine/Bora Bora without getting off/Papeete/Fakarava/Tahiti) and there wasn't an extra charge going that way (I don't think there are flights between Bora Bora and Fakarava so we had to go back to Tahiti for it).

We did something similar for our 2009 trip and had to pay approx $100 per person so we could divert from their normal flight schedule.

As Andie said, it is worth it because you can get to do more days on particular islands (especially the more remote ones).

Our itinerary was Tahiti, Tikehau, Manihi, back to Tahiti in transit, Raiatea, BB and back to Tahiti.

It allowed us to do Tahaa and BB last, which was obviously what we wanted to do.
