It's pretty bad, Andie. The cyclone hit at midnight last night (it's 11:00 am now in Queensland). The cyclone has been down rated from 5 to 2 (5 is as high as the ratings go) and is headed for the iron ore mine fields of Mt Isa. Cat 2 is major flooding, so the disaster continues. At least we aren't freezing!
They said on the news last night, that if your skin is moist and exposed to the cold that the US is experiencing, then you can get frostbite within 1 minute. Batten down the hatches, guys and think warm things (FP???).

Mother Nature is angry everywhere!! I've never been through a cyclone or hurricane, but it would be scary!
Well, it's 9pm now here and only -10C, -18C with windchill factor, so not too bad. We got down to -38C 10 days ago..now that's frostbite chilly! The worst of the storm seems to have passed now and a very fine snow is just falling slowly, no wind. Oh yes...I was dreaming of FP today!! Only 117 sleeps to go! I have to email Lori in Texas and raz her a bit!! She thought she escaped the Edmonton winter, but it caught up with her down there!

Gary will be able fill you in properly, but from what I understand the flooding went a fair way inland (basically every river/creek/canal in that Queensland area was over-loaded) and all the mines were flooded as well (and they are not anywhere near the coast).
Say hi to Lori for us - hope she is enjoying her new home and planning another trip to FP soon!!!
