I had fun tonight reading your report. I know about low hanging beams: Raimiti Pension on Fakarava has a few places to hit your head, and I did! Let me know if you're on O'ahu next time as it would be fun to talk story over a Hinano.

Do you remember the poster here from Vancouver, BC who knocked himself out cold on a beam at Raimiti? He was the one who also got dengue fever and was deathly ill by the time he left to fly home (and ended up in a hospital in Tahiti instead of flying out)? I often think of him and wonder how he's doing now.

I DO remember him...yikes! Hope he is doing fine and has had good health to say nothing of luck since his travails in FP.

Old Wife, His name here is "Captain Dog" (Daniel Wheeler), and here's the link to his trip report, which HAD to be one of the most unfortunate trips ever reported here!

Thanks, Barbi! I don't know why I thought he was from Vancouver (though he did say they were originally from Canada). It's neat to read his report now that I've been to Raimiti!

Great trip report, kk.melia. My first trip to FP to Club Med Moorea was solo too, years before Cath and I were together, that's why Cath's first trip overseas was to FP.
You meet some interesting people when you travel solo, but the cost is a bit high. Bummer about the concussion, but it's the bizzaar things that happen to you on vacation that are memorable. We picked up a surfer on the dive boat that was bleeding with a broken surf board about 50 metres from where we were feeding lemon sharks. Lucky boy!

Aloha all!
Thanks SO much for all of your positive feedback on my trip report. I can't thank you all enough for your information on this forum that has helped me plan two trips to FP now. You guys rock! Oh wait, what is that saying? You are too metal for one hand! \mm/
@rodjune, yes, I am way overdue for a shopping excursion weekend on O'ahu. I will let you know next time I visit.
Mahalo nui loa,
Kerri
