First post ever! We are planning a trip to Tahiti in June. From other posts I've read here, it seems most of you prefer Air Tahiti Nui or Air France. My question is: What is a good price for airfare from LAX this spring? Will it go on sale before June? Should I buy now or wait a bit? Thanks. (It was 9 degrees Farenheit here this morning. That's about -12 Celcius I think. I need some warm weather!)

I think people like Hawaiian Air.
As far as air fare-who knows? If you look at the packages, the prices are far cheaper for a package. The rooms are almost free.
Otherwise, it's from around $1000-$1400, I feel,
Air Tahiti Nui appears to be cheaper now. Air France was cheaper for us last year. It's a mystery to me.

The Hawaiian Airlines once-a-week schedule now requires an overnight in Honolulu each way, so I no longer consider that routing a good deal.
Go to the Air Tahiti Nui and sign up for emails for their promotions. If you are going for less than 10 days, there are often sales. Normal airfare is running around $1200-$1400 right now.
You can also price a package, with the islands and hotels of your choice, through the main page of this website, which is run by a great travel agent!

that is good to know about Hawaiian Air. But it could be a breakup of the trip if the flights are not too much.

I have to correct my statement about Hawaiian Airlines. The schedule, for ME, flying from PHOENIX to HNL and connecting with the PPT flight, is so inconvenient with layovers that it requires an overnight stay each way for me... but that won't be true for everyone, depending on what flights they are connecting to in HNL to get home.
Here is the basic HNL-PPT-HNL once-a-week schedule:
SATURDAYS Honolulu to Papeete 4:40 PM - 10:30 PM HA 481
SUNDAYS (Sat.late night) Papeete to Honolulu 12:30 AM - 6:20 a.m. (Sunday morning) HA 482
Yes, an overnight in Honolulu is a nice seque to getting home and breaks up the trip nicely, but I'd rather have two more nights on Moorea! If you can fly directly to HNL from your own airport, another benefit is not having to transit through the crowds at LAX.

Hawaiian Air is great. I am a loyal customer and fly with them whenever possible. But please be aware and look at all carriers and all of your options, a trip to FP is not cheap. Some of those packages can be such sweet deals and way cheaper than putting a trip together yourself.
I found a really great package the first time I went to FP: two people, 10 days, ATN from LAX, Tahiti/Moorea/BB Sofitels, and breakfast and dinner for $3600.
When I traveled to FP last September, the cost of my ticket from Hawai'i was actually more expensive than a ticket from LAX.
Research, research, research. Oh, and read this forum.

I second the Research, Research as I found my Seattle to Honolulu fares of $135.00 each way last Nov. but have never found a special fare Honolulu to Papeete.

Thanks for the suggestions. The best fares I'm finding are about $1400 on Air Tahiti Nui right now from LAX. I guess I'm really wondering if it's typical to have sales or specials between now and June. We are staying in a private villa so I can't really do a package (unless one can be arranged with a "break" of 9 days for our own accomodations). One more question, what is the average cost of air to Bora Bora from Papeete? Thanks again!

I have heard of people doing packages on here with a break in between.
My airfare with ATN was $1200 something for Feb.
There can be a special at any time. Who knows when?
