Great report Patti. Sounds like you had a good time. Again.

You mentioned ATN being 40-60% full. If their pricing were better, they would have 100% capacity. The Air France flight we were on was completely full. Better prices = more butts in the seats.
OK, I'm done ranting.

Patti,

As usual, this is a great report that made us feel like we were there with you! Thanks too for the updates on the exchange rate, and ATN news.

We saw that biohazard setup on arrival last summer too, and it is VERY unclear what items they want us to take out (from the bowels of our luggage)and present to them for inspection -- it seemed like they wanted to see ALL food items, canned or not, meat or not... we're just stupid tourists, so we act ignorant!

Glad to hear you and Paul had such great weather this trip!

Add to your packing list for next time: Halloween-sized M&M packets! ALL kids want them and love them, and they don't make a melted mess!

Ia Orana Patti n Paul, Welcome Home, or maybe not...got the flu??? Many thanks for bringing the package to Jacques. From the emails I have received from him, sounds like he is enjoying the many DVDs. Hard to believe that Jan's old home is now a pile of bricks. Feel so bad for all of her tupas she fed for those 18 years and now they have nobody to support them. Was the big breadfruit tree also cut down? It was just off of her big front porch. I used to go out and spread the fallen breadfruits around from tupa hole to tupa hole.

Sounds like the weatherman or weatherwoman was good to you on this journey. That is always a good thing. How was the snorkeling at the CBH? Is is usually pretty decent along the big wall just behind the Blue Pineapple. Saw a huge Great White Shark several years ago while snorkeling. He was a couple hundred yards from where I was...glad I had not cut myself on any of the corals.

Did you run into any of the Bali Hai Boys during your stay? Was the gift shop at the CBH open very often? We found it to usually be closed.

Thanks, again, for the package delivery to Jacques. If you have a chance please forward a few photos to my home email.

CHEERS!! Excellent trip report...

Patti,

I think I am going to actually cry when we drive past Jan's old house and see it not there -- it was the oldest house on Moorea, and what a treasure!

Hey Lee...I picked up a few issues Tahiti Beach Press for you. I'll have to get your snail mail address and get them sent out.

The water was more clear in Cooks Bay than I have EVER seen it. It is really quite blue and quite clear when there is no rain!

We visited with Muk and Jay quite a bit. Both are doing fine.

They only open the gift shop now when a guest askes to go in. There is really nothing in there at all. They have not added any new items in a couple years. They are basically just selling through the stock on hand. I imagine at some point in the future they will just shut it down comletely. OR...possibly when Matahai takes over day to day operations, maybe he has plans for it.

Yes Barb, between Jan's house being gone and that beautful palm over looking Cooks Bay being stripped in the cyclone last year....the island just doesn't look the same. I took a picture of the palm....but I should have taken it from the other direction so you can truly see that it has no palm fronds anymore. It's just a big trunk hanging out over the bay now.

Thanks Patti for the delivery and for the TBP pick up. You can get that home address from me, Hamara, Barbi, travelin' tom.
Look forward to getting them. Thanks, again.

Now, speaking of Jan's place..I'm so happy that I had a chance to pretty much photograph the inside and outside of the former Chez Wilder before it went over to the dark side (fireside).

My wife enjoyed giving NST treatments to a few friends on the old front porch. Jan had an old massage table in the guest bedroom.

I sure hope Jan finds her beautiful Calico cat--Baby Love-- who has gone missing at her new place. If you see Baby Love out and about, please do return her to Jan's new home ASAP...THANKS!!!

Cheers!!
