I've been to Fiji many times and I've had a different vibe each time.
You can get the DVD of Turtle Island sent to you - one vibe. We stayed at The Hideaway and had a terrific time (until the locals from the village next door had to deal with an intoxicated mother). There was no excuse how they treated her.
Then there was the time I stayed at the Fijian - a local running the volleyball pulled me aside and organised a sneaky trip to his village to raise money to build a church. One of the best nights I've ever had, but he insisted I didn't tell management because he would lose his job.
And Suva - NEVER go there - ALL crimes are committed 24/7.
And George Spate - go there and be part of a coup!!
Even other places of paradise have their underbellies.
