Hello!
Is it better to take the Ferry or Plane from PPT to Moorea? We are staying at Le Meredian on PPT and the Hilton on Moorea if that makes any difference?
Thanks for the advice.

I've done both and they're both really neat experiences. If you're buying an airpass, it's cheaper to include the flight to Moorea (you'll already be paying for it if you arrange PPT to MOR to BOB to PPT, for instance). The plane's small and you can see out the front windscreen while you're flying and it's a real hoot! The ferry's really neat because you approach the island slowly by water (the way the original inhabitants and explorers did) and it grows bigger and bigger. I think I prefer the ferry, but either is fun in its own way. It doesn't really matter where you're staying on Moorea--you can arrange transport from either the airport or the dock and I don't think the price is different (anyone's welcome to correct me on that). I don't know whether Le Meridien on Tahiti is closer to the airport or the dock so I don't know about pricing at that end.

Tracy...they no longer have the Air Moorea flights on the small planes. They are now done with Air Tahiti on the larger ones.

My rule: If you are at the airport, take the plane. If you've left the airport (like having stayed at a hotel) take the ferry

We prefer the flight to the ferry, because of luggage... Also, you don't have to taxi from airport to PPT ferry and then taxi again from the MOZ ferry dock, which adds cost to the "cheaper" ferry. Transport is available from the MOZ airport to all island hotels for 700f per person, through Torea Nui Transport.
