PLEASE note, there's NO MORE foreign exchange at the Int'l airport of Tahiti. The agency has been CLOSED permanently.
Those arriving early morning or during day can exchange at the Banque de Socredo, located next to the Air Tahiti agency, to the right when standing with back to the snack. This bank agency operates regular business hours and has an exchange machine and ATM outside as well.

Exactly. You would have no options except to exchange at home at a lousy rate...or pray the ATM has money....not a risk I'd be willing to take. :-(

It's a drag for us too coming from a little island out of nowhere taking an international flight... there are no banks in many islands... and when presenting FP money in Europe they think its play money LOL

Would FP be the only one in the world not to have a foreign exchange at the Int'l I wonder...

Thanks for posting this valuable information.
American Samoa had no foreign exchange or ATMs at the airport when I was there in 2007.
Yap, in the Federated States of Micronesia, had no currency exchange or ATMs at ALL when I was there in 2008.
Both places use U.S. dollars as their currency.

That news is awful, and very inconvenient for most of us! ATMs are unreliable, and the automated bill changers charge an arm and leg in transaction fees. Boo hiss!

For someone coming from the UK (where you can't get hold of XPF at currency exchange agents) what other options are there for exchange from Pounds Sterling to XPF when we get to FP?
That's a shame about the currency exchange place closing, it was really handy!
