We did 7 nights on Moorea and 5 on Bora Bora and it was absolutely perfect for us, but you can decide how to split them. Go for an overwater bungalow on Bora Bora. A beach bungalow (or even a garden bungalow) on Moorea will help keep the costs down. Since Bora Bora is all about the lagoon, you want an overwater bungalow there if you can afford it. Moorea has a nice lagoon, too, but it's really all about the island. I highly recommend doing Moorea first, though. It will feel low-key after almost anywhere else in the world and then the next step is Bora Bora if what you mainly want to do is relax, snorkel, sun, etc.

Hi Luna. The IC Moorea / Thalasso split would be perfect for someone that hasn't been there. The diving is completely different on both islands. Moorea - heaps of sharks but does have some Crown of Thorn damage to the reef. BB outside of the lagoon has had some cyclone damage, but the lagoon (especially the Anau dive site) is one of the best dives you can do anywhere in FP. IC moorea has also been renovated recently, but it was awesome when we were there prior to the renovations, so it should be spectacular. We've been to Moorea twice and BB 5 times and I've dived them both, so don't be shy to ask away.

Is there anything better than a sipping a Tahitian Mai Tai on an Overwater Bungalow in FP?

Just got back from 9 days at Thalasso and I visited the Le Moana resort and though it was nice, there was a HUGE difference in how nice it was and how well maintained the bathrooms and other areas seemed.
Thalasso was very expensive, though it was amazing, and the service was great.

Thalasso is much, much newer than Le Moana. Glad you had a great time there!
