It is hard to believe, but we will be leaving the end of April. Ugh.

We used the Marama card and got 50& off of our flight to Papeete. I guess it's good to be old.

There are some fabulous artists on Huahine. Fredrique, who has the Pacific arts store in Fare is a great artist. She and Joe used to do art together and she has a couple of those pieces for sale. They remind me of Bobby Holcomb art.

Now she does mall paintings that are great as well.

Melanie Dupres continues to have great art. One of her paintings is owned by Pierce Brosnan.

The past few days, the porpoises have been putting on quite a show for the people taking the boat to the Te Tiare. There appears to be a group of about 15.

Hubby has an appt. for a bank account tomorrow at the Bank of Tahiti. We'll see how that goes. Socredo had another appt for us in May. Too bad we won't be here. They have had cut backs so that 1 person is there instead of the three that they used to have.

On Sunday, the waves were such that there were numerous surfers surfing the left in fare (the most difficult). On Monday, the waves were somewhat bigger on shore and on /tuesady, they were huge, It's back to normal today.

We are on water restriction. Water is on in the early AM and again around 6 PM until sometime in the evening,

There has not been much rain in the rainy season. Good for me as a tourist, but not so good if you need water,

Sorry for all of the typos, etc. Internet goes in and out sometimes. So, I couldn't fix it.

Anyway, if anyone is thinking of staying for a long time in FP, I suggest learning and knowing French. It will make life much more pleasant being able to communicate with people that you want to communicate with.

Just as you know the "rules" of where you live that are unspoken, FP has it's own spoken and unspoken rules. As a newcomer, you will always be a newcomer. Even people who are not born on a particular island are newcomers.

This is their island home and they have their ways of life. We are visitors to their home. They have their ways of doing things. They may not be our ways. But that's the way it is where I live. It's our ways.

So, one should try it out and see if it fits for them.

It fits for us. So many quirks. But that's how it is

That sounds true of everywhere. We moved to a small town years ago and we were such outsiders. Fortunately, I had many separate ties to people in that community (or people they knew) so that helped us be accepted a little, but we never would be considered locals. It helps to become friendly with locals to find out what those unwritten rules are, who's who, who to avoid, who to make sure you're on good terms with. Whether it's an island in the Pacific or a small town nearby, it's amazing how true what you've written is!

We have owned property on Moorea since 1983. Built the house in 1985 and 1988. We were given Tahitian names only because our last name is Hammar. Hamara is the Tahitian word for a hammer.
We are guests and always will be.

Thanks for that info hamara. Still a guest? Oh well.

Here are some things I have learned on Huahine.

1. I hate French women. It doesn't matter if they are 70 years old or if they are younger with multiple small children. They still have the bodies of teenagers.

2. The shirt for the males of Huahine is a tee shirt with the sleeves cut off. The really hot males wear no shirt. And some not so hot as well.

There is also the Kona cut shirt with a cut in the center of the neck several inches down.

3. The official shoe of Huahine is the flip flop. Although I have been told that the truly amazing go barefoot.

I almost cried with joy when I saw one of the hot Hawaii iki Nui Vaa guys wearing Crocs. I have my Crocs, but I think I may be switching to flip flops next year.

4. The truly cool guys wear board shorts. Speedos are for elderly men, apparently . The ones who should not be wearing them.

5. I know who the nude surfers are. So for a small fee I will let you know. I have told them that I am going this rogue route, and they are OK with it. But it will cost you. And I am not sharing the money with them.

Love your list of things you've learned Inese....very funny and rather sweet! I agree re French women...it's just not far that they look the way they do.

We're sorry we missed you in Huahine.....where did you end up living?

For point #4 - speedos, no matter where in the world you are always seemed to be worn by the ones who shouldn't.

For point #5 - nude surfers? Are they hot? If they aer, I have FP flu even worse than before and need to make a trip ASAP to see these nude surfers. It appears that Old Wife may join me.

Yes, they are hot. And I am not kidding. We are talking major six packs. However, unless you surf, you will have to bring a night vision telephoto lens. Perhaps since I am providing the service for cash in CFP's only, I should provide the night vision equipment?

Vai, we ended up renting the house from Marti. Did you go to the Tuamotu's? How about a little report anyway?
