Canadians are exempt unless they enter on a form I-94. They are just about the only ones exempt. My wife is a legal resident but she gets fingerprinted every time she re-enters.

Tracy.... we will very likely be offering our timeshare next year. We have to pay for it in Aug/Sept. And hopefully if CBH does what they have done the past couple years, the will give us an extra week for free. If so, then I don't think we'd have too much trouble finding someone willing to buy 2 weeks for around $600. We don't even need to make a profit off it. I'm willing to sell it each year for the amount we pay in maintenance fees.
We could probably continue to do that for a few years. If we can make it through the next 6.5 years we'll be okay. That is when our house will be paid off. We have to try as hard as we can to make it there without completely draining our savings and touching our 401K's....and if that means not going to FP for the next 6-7 years...then so be it. We pretty much knew our trip in Feb would probably be our last for quite some time....that's why we just went ahead and did it.
Barb...we wouldn't be able to go for a year or two anyway, even if we could somehow scrape up the money, 'cause Paul won't have any vacation time to use.
Basically we just have to batten down the hatches and hope we can hang on until retirement/house paid off. We just hope we can find him a slightly better job asap. He doesn't need to make near what he used to make...just something around $12 an hour and a 40 hour work week and we'd be fine. But that $8.75 for 25-30 hours at Michael's ain't gonna cut it.
As bad a situation as we are in, I know so many others are far worse off than we are. We do still have his military retirement coming in and his military insurance. Those two things are HUGE! But it's just such a struggle to try to watch every penny and budget and not be able to do all the things we just used to take for granted.

Let me know if you're going to 'rent out' your CBH next year. That sounds like a fantastic deal! Even more $$ than that is a fantastic deal! I know we won't have a big fall vacation this year because the conference we usually tack our holiday onto is local in 2012.

@Barbi, I thought I had already translated that...?!
@Patti, maybe you should consider renting your timeshare locally, it is cheaper than for residents to rent a house... and there are a few local internet sites where you could post for free..., just an idea
