I was googling and came across this trip report: http://www.hostelhoneymoon.com/2010/04/tahiti-part-deux.html
Does anyone know which waterfalls those are and where they are (PK?) Also, the very last photo of the river with the mountains behind, where is that?
The trip report is very interesting to read.

It is on the East coast, pk22 just past the blow hole (Papeno'o), called Faarumai, there's 3 waterfalls. You take a small off road at which end you park your car and walk to the first one "Vaimahuta" (5 min), the other 2 "Haamarere" are further out (30 min walk). The visit is beautiful because you'll enter like a tropical rainforest with the most amazing species of plants, flowers, bambou, trees! Highly recommended to use bugspray and wear proper shoes if doing the track to the 2 Haamarere (slipperly).
The pic with river and the mountains in the back is further East going towards Taravao, it's either Hiti'a or Otuofai (Faaone).

Been to both of those. Jacques, Hamara's caretaker took us around Tahiti 2 trips ago. He drove while Bev and I saw the sights. Beautiful.

Silvanocat, if you drive East out of Papeete, you'll get to the blowhole first (they're constructing =what a shame= a tunnel there but it is not open yet) when you pas the blowhole (in a curve of the road) straight after on your right you'll see the sign and the small road leading to the waterfalls. Don't leave any valuables visible in your car on the parking there.
When continuing after your visit Eastbound towards Taravao, you'll cross 2 bridges, it's either the 1st or the 2nd which will show you what's visible on the last pic on that blog...

The last photo, if I am looking at the correct photo (the couple standing together at the edge of the black sand beach with mountains in the background), looks like Tautira to me. Tautira is at the end of the northernmost of the two roads traveling east down Tahiti Iti. The southernmost road takes you to Teahupoo.

That's the one.
So it's a beach (lagoon) vs. river?
It reminds me of Ofu in American Samoa.

Yes, that's the ocean you see. There is a river in the background that empties into the ocean but you can't really see it in the photo. The drive is nice with a number if small waterfalls along the road.
