ATN is cutting back on the number of planes due to the fact they
are no longer flying several routes. 2011 has seen some improvement in tourist numbers for French Polynesia.

THe 5th airbus is leased, they will now let go of that because indeed they stopped the disastrous New York - Sydney route which cost them heapsssss of money and the leasing is still costing them tons.
They're starting on the refurbishing project of the cabins of the other 4 asap, new video/games controllers, new upholsterey in economy and cock-type seats in business (like Air France) so ATN finally seems to structurise itself and heading the right direction... that's IMVHO lol

All right! New video/games and upholstery (and I'll cross my fingers they have individual air vents, too)! They really did need those and I'd definitely fly ATN again if they fix those up. Good for them.

Yep, I don't think it's possible to put them in those planes design-wise.
I'm trying to remember....but I don't think the Air France planes had them either. I don't recall for sure, because I NEVER use them. I DON'T want germ filled recycled air blowing on me all fight long. I go through enough trouble trying to make my seat area as germ free as possible.

I found the ATN plane hot and claustrophobic (I was at the window) so I really, really wanted some fresh air blowing on me during turbulence. Maybe I need to pack a battery-operated fan next time!
