Has anybody stayed at the Maitai La Pita Village on Huahine? It was supposed to open in May of this year. I can find some promotional info but nothing more. The resort appears to be a good addition to Huahine but items like "price" or "deals" etc. are kind of missing from the internet.
We're currently booked in August at the Relais Mahana and then Te Tiara for a few more days. Recent reviews on TripAdvisor.com have been very negative on the Relais Mahana. We stayed a couple of years ago at the Relais Mahana and loved the place. Evidently new owners/new management have caused some staff "happiness" problems. Curious to know if this is a current problem or just some sour grapes.

I left Huahine on April 30 and the La Pita was not completed, but almost. It does not appeal to me . The bungalows are behind the restaurant. The restaurant is on the beach. There is a pool in front of the restaurant.
The bungalows are very lovely, it appears, but not on the water, if that is of concern.
The beach is fabulous there with great snorkeling.
Relais Mahana looks to be lovely. There were not many people staying there. I did not stay there, but was on Huahine from mid February to the end of April.
The only issue we had was that the food was not fresh. I think it's because there are so few people staying there. Because we did not stay there, I do not know how it was for the clients. We went there to snorkel, so we ate lunch. But because the food was not good, we did not eat there again.
I hate to say this on the net because it affects people's business, but the food was an issue. We did not hear about any other issues.
La Pita has a French chef and it's so close to town. That is a plus.
If you have more specific questions, ask away

Lapita village has opened last week (July 12th) if I am not mistaken. PLace looks really nice!
Relais Mahana (up for sale) has known quite a few problems with staff and strikes (2 years ago) personally I'd prefer pension Mauarii, on the same beach in Parea, a lovely small pension.

Pension Maurii is very very popular with the locals.
I do prefer the Relais Mahana site and bungalows though.
One could stay at Relais Mahana and eat at Maurii
If you have not seen the site for the LaPita, look on the end of the construction pages.
The rooms look very fabulous.

Thank you Poehere and Holte. Your replies are most helpful and I fully understand about not wanting to make comments affecting someone's business. I think we're going to stick with our current plan but there's always next time! When we last stayed at the Relais Mahana (Feb/Mar 2009), we had a fabulous but quiet time. The property was not close to being full even on weekends. We only ate at the restuarant a couple of times (never saw more than 3 other couples) but it was also at the height of the recession. We mostly went to Chez Tara next to the Relais Mahana. I don't think it's there anymore or at least I could find scant reference to it on the internet. Of course, we also went into Fare for meals and bought things from the market. We'll do the same this time. I really hope that the Relais Mahana has turned itself around. We miss a lot of the old resorts in FP. Too many have been abandoned and fallen into ruin. Whatever the resort, Huahine is a magical place.

Chez Tara is still there. At least it was in April.
You will be able to check out the new resort.
Also, at the roulottes, there is one that has the best fish burgers in the world.
She is not there everyday, so you will have to ask what days she is there.
She shares with the man who has the pizza roulotte at night.
Its a white one that I think says pizza on a little sign on the top of the van. Her name is Loanna.
Also, the poisson brochettes at the Chez Guynette are the best. They do not serve everyday , though. I think they are closed to food every Wednesday.

I've been googling and cannot find the hotels own web site. Went to the Maitai site and there is no mention of it.
Anyone have a link?
