Thanks all for the great information.
"Avocados are like zucchini here" - It's truly heaven then. (Though I've never seen/ate any on previous trips - not that I was looking.) Is it in season late November?

I want to try the chile here. So if I get a can of red beans, a can of tomatoes, some chile seasoning I just heat and serve? (Meat would make it too complicated for me.) Will also experiment with frying French bread here.

Did some translating for myself: Haricot verts = green beans, flageolets = the "cavier" of beans, similar to navy beans, mais = corn.

I hope someone answers on the avocados as I feel they are in season all of the time and I may be really wrong. They are huge!!!

Since you are obviously not a picky eater (lucky lucky), the chile recipe sounds fine. I had hubby add pineapple and we love it. Maybe onions and green beans. Whatever.

If you like pineapple, the pineapple there should be in season. You can even eat the core. It is SO good.

I also have used the avocado as a spread on bread instead of mustard or mayo.

I mashed up the avocado with a little lime and chile powder. I used it for cheese sandwiches. I don't like avocado but I am working on it because it is so good for one.

I have not seen corn for sale in the markets.

The papaya is yummy. You can buy cucumbers for cheap there as well. I would put them on the cheese sandwiches as well.

I forget if Sunday or Saturday is the big day for the market. But you have to be there on whatever day it is early. Your motu people will know.

Yes the papaya! I forgot about them. The ones on the Cooks were fabulous so I will be loading up on lots for snacks. Love cucumbers.
