Cancelling an Air Tahiti reservation?

I may have to postpone my trip indefinately. I have searched the Air Tahiti web site but don't see a real cancellation policy only that a fee will apply.
This is on two seperate RT tickets (not air passes)for November. I am wondering if it makes a difference when I cancel? (Things are very much up in the air and out of my control.)

No I didn't because my question is about Air Tahiti. Air Tahiti Nui is a different airline.

Q : I want to be reimbursed for my ticket...
A : If your ticket has been issued by Air Tahiti
The refund is authorized during the ticket validity (one year from the issuing date). Services charges will be applied. Beyond this time period, the refund will not be granted.
Because of administrative and banking formalities, refund requests can start to be honored 48 hours after ticket issuance.
Click here to make a refund request. Please mention your ticket number, the flight numbers, the travel dates and your itinerary.
If your ticket has been issued by another organization than Air Tahiti
Ask your issuing agency for the reimbursement of a ticket or coupon not used. This reimbursement will be processed according to the fare conditions: full, partial or non-refundable. Services charges will be applied.
Fees applicable:
•Before the arrival in French Polynesia : no fees
•After the international departure and before the first Air Tahiti flight planned: refund fees of 50% of the ticket’s total value.
I wonder why they want to gouge you after you arrive in FP. Also what is the difference between service charges and fees? Sigh. Yeah, I will have to email them.

Oh no!! If it's unpredictable and out of your control, it must be intensely stressful. I'm sorry your trip to Tahiti may be disrupted. You probably need the relaxation of Tahiti very much right now. Hope the situation resolves itself quickly and well, and that you can get back on track with your travel.

Sorry to read that Sylvanocat!
Reimbursement charges are 1000 xpf for passenger tickets (over 12 years old) and 500 xpf for kids up to 12 yrs

Thanks everyone.
It's my elderly (90s) mother. She has been hospitalized twice recently (since I bought my ticket). While she is generally "okay" taking everything into consideration, I don't know what will happen next. Her health and situation have declined. I feel I should be easily available by telephone and internet for my sister to discuss things or do reseach should anything change. Or to get back home.
