Hello! we are planning to go to Vahine Island for the last 3 days of our honeymoon and are deciding whether we should go with the beach bungalow, beach suite, or overwater bungalow.

Go with the Beach Suite, just not Fare Ono(the last one in the line of 6). It's by the maintenence shed and they have employess in there with lights on all night. Try for #1. First in line and close by the restaurant. Number 3 is also a good one. I have pictures of both in the below album. Check it out here:

All of the bungalows are nice and the resort is so small that you really can't go wrong with whichever you choose. The beach suite is the biggest but I think the overwater provide a bit more privacy since the channel in front of the beach bungalows is used for snorkeling. I stayed in an overwater when I was there - fare va'u (eight) which is the middle of the three overwater bungalows. You can see people in adjacent bungalows when you are both on the decks but otherwise pretty secluded. All of the units are quiet and the resort is very intimate. You really can't go wrong with any of the bungalows.

Are fare ono, #1 and #6 all beach suites? we're going at Christmas and have booked a beach suite. How bad is that maintenance shed? Is it really so bad that I need to request a specific bungalow? Thanks...

There are 3 regular beach and 3 beach suite bungalows. All of the bungalows are named in Tahitian according to their numbers. I believe Tahi(1), Toru (3) and Ono (6) are the 3 beach suites. Rua (2), Ha (4)and Rima (5) are the regular beach bungalows(Poehere can correct my Tahitian if I'm wrong - I'm getting rusty). I remember seeing the lights on at the shed at night but I don't remember a lot of noise. Joe would know much better since he stayed on the beach.

We stayed in Ono (#6 a beach suite) and the cook was living in the shed at the time we were there. The music and the lights left a lot to be desired. I was originally supposed to be in #1, but they had a returning multi-visit client and they gave them #1 and moved us to #6 as they arrived before we did.
All the beach suites are nice, just get one further from the shed. My brother-in-law and his wife were in #3 and they loved it.

I just wanted to correct my bungalow numbering - the correct bungalow names should be Fare Ho'e (1), Fare Piti (2), Fare Toru (3), Fare Maha (4) Fare Pae (5) and Fare Ono (6). I went back to look at my photos and can only see piti, ono and va'u labeled.

... But the numbers are still good right - as in, go for #3 then #1 for Beach Suites - #6 has the cook's shed next to it?

Correct. #6 should be the last choice for beach suites. If at all.
