I didn't want to post anything right away...just to make sure this wasn't another "3 days and you're out" job...like the last one. :-(

BUT....2 weeks ago Paul got a call from the employment agency. It seems that a job he was in the running for a few months ago...and came in second...wanted to know if was still available! The guy they hired didn't work out...for a variety of reasons...some of which are VERY funny!...but mostly because he couldn't do the job...and they came to the conclusion he had probably lied on his resume about his experience. Either that...or he was really stupid!

Anyway....Paul started last Monday...and as of this Monday he still has the job! Woo Hoo! Actually he loves it, and they seem to love him. He boss said he showed more knowledge and ability on the first day than the other guy did in 6 weeks. That will teach them for going with the younger guy!!!

Hopefully this will work out. He's obviously on "probation" for 3 months....so we won't truly breath a sigh of relief until mid Dec. But right now, it's looking really good that he may have found THE job he waited 2.5 years for!

That's fabulous Patti!! If it's "THE" job all that much better than just any job. Congratulations to Paul.

Actually it's not only that, BUT....it's a bit more than TWICE the salary of the "3 day" job!!! This one is actually within $10-12K of what he was making at his old job. We truly didn't think he'd find anything close to what he was making...not in THIS economy...not in THIS city!

As so many people told us...it will all work out in the end....things happen for a reason. And maybe the reason the other job didn't work out was because he was destined to get this one.

He really likes this job, the company, the people he's working with. All the way around it just seems like a perfect fit for him.

I'll tell you what Joe...I completely understand the guys out there who have committed suicide because they couldn't find a job. It is truly a cruel world out there right now....especially for older workers. Thank God we had his military retirement and insurance to get us through this. Without those, we would have lost everything as hundreds of thousands of other Americans have.

If you haven't seen the movie The Company Men, with Ben Affleck...watch it. I swear, parts of that script were the same exact words that came straight out of our mouths. Yes, it dealt with a different occupation....but the story is still the same.
