The ferries between Papaete & Moorea are not working today!!

THe fisherman are blocking the pass so the ferries cannot go. Today we were going to visit friends in Papeete and could not go. Also there is a strike in Motu Uta in Papeete for the container ports. Complicated!!!

A number of strikes have been started in the French Polynesian capital Papeete, mainly affecting the port.
The port police has begun a strike in an attempt to be paid the allowances agreed to last year.
Stevedoring staff have also laid down tools in protests at failing to get a pay rise in three years.
This comes as fishermen are again lining up their vessels again at the entry to Tahiti’s port after a partial blockade earlier this week.
In the city, workers have partly blocked a key street in Papeete in protest at not being paid for months for construction jobs at the new hospital.
Members of the SMPP-SOGEBA union were promised to be paid after a court ruled last week that the government release 2.3 million US dollars in money owed to their employer.
The workers also blocked the access to the assembly building, delaying the opening of today’s session.

It's part of the culture LOL...
The port is opening back up again now. Trip1 your friends can they come visit you, rather than you going over to Papeete it being kind of restless at the moment...

Thank you Poehere. Now we have a different problem.
The wind was very strong last night and a baby brown noddy bird fell from his nest on a coconut tree. He survived the night under a lamp but we do not know what to feed him. We gave him little fish and he ate it. I think he is a week old. Any ideas?

Oufff poor thing, have you looked to see if you could locate the parents? Maybe they're looking for him? In that case you could put it somewhere near where his nest is and normally they'll continue taking care of it.
It being so young it would need water a lot (drops) every hour or so to prevent dehydration, you may want to try to dissolve some sugar in water which will give it some energy. Them normally being fed by the parents you'd need to find insects or worms which you might be able to drop in its mouth with the help of tweezers (don't give bread or dry rice because that will blow up in the stomach) or a an eggyolk mixed with water, or some finely cut beef or chicken...
There are 2 vet's in Moorea, would you be able to take the birdy?

Thank you very much Poehere!
We did put him last night for two hours and this morning again but the parents never came. The best solution is to find the mother o the baby noody. I will keep trying....
The vets are closed for the week end unfortunately. Do you think that I can give the baby bird to one of them?

There's only one bird association and that is located in Tahiti -iti, so my guess would be the vet... are you by any chance near Temae (airport) or Papetoai (Interconti)?

The bird is a brown noddy and thanks God he/she is still alive. A friend gave us the information of the bird association and they say they can take it. So we are happy to know that he/she will be in a very good place. Finding hthis little bird, has been one of the richest experiences in my life. I will be sad to let him go, but I understand that is the best thing that can happen to the bird.
They told us that we should give him sea water and small fish with everything. so the market I go now!!!!
