It'll be a quick and cheap taxi back up the hill from the roulottes. It would "probably" be okay to walk up after dark....BUT...."probably" isn't quite good enough for me. You will be walking through a very populated commercial area and then a populated residential area. Petty crime seems to be on the rise lately. No telling who might be hanging out on a street corner after dark. I'd take a taxi back up too....just because.

In fact Patti part of the commercial area is unpopulated at night, it being offices etc, I would really advise against walking such a distance. Lately there's quite a lot of pick-pocketing going on (especially also around the market area too!!!) unfortunately due to the very high unemployment. Better be safe than sorry!

Thanks, guys. We once went to Sausalito and took the boat back to San Francisco. It was still daylight and we stood there, waiting for a bus. When the bus driver drove up, he was shocked we were standing there and told us to get on the bus and don't worry about where he was going (we'd asked him if he went near our hotel). We didn't realize the area we were standing in wasn't safe (it looked fine to us, especially in daylight).

Actually, since I'll be staying with him the end of our trip, it doesn't matter. I should have plenty of money by then.
