we applied Aug 18. One day after Nat at the same consulate and she got hers a couple of weeks ago.

I am getting very nervous as I have flights and accommodations all ready to go for Nov 6.

I thought that would be plenty of time. Maybe they don't want us.

Call them... or send an email directly to the DRCL here in Papeete who is the offical body authorising the visa or not...

I called the Chicago consulate last Friday, and they said they knew nothing. They said that it takes a long time to get a visa to Tahiti.

What is the DRCL? Do you have an address, please?

A friend in Huahine said that people arrive without visas often and then the visas arrive later and it is not an issue.

But I had to give them my passport, so I don't know how we could do that.

They took your passport? Normally they have no right, only to put in the stamp or something...

drcl AT polynesie-francaise.pref.gouv.fr

Address your letter to Mareva, if you want me to translate into French, send me a PM you know where...

@Poehere: The French Consulates here in the USA require that the passport accompany the visa application, which can take weeks or months to return. They affix the visa into the passport pages and then send it back in a prepaid Fed Ex envelope (which must be submitted with the application). It's very nerve-wracking to be without one's passport for so long, especially close to the travel date! Hopefully, your wonderful assistance to Holte will help speed things up, as there is no way she can travel on November 6 without her passport!

Poehere, I contacted you to email the person in French, please. We need some kind of guidance as hubby called the consulate today and they still don't know anything.

They said that some other people who applied close to when we did just received their visas, so it might be soon.

But if we have to change our tickets, I don't have a clue as to what the change date should be.

you are a Saint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But if they say we are losers and should not be allowed into the country, please don't announce it on here.

But then again, you may want to protect Polynesia.
