Hi everyone,
My name is Angelo and i'm from The Netherlands. Me and my girlfriend are planning à trip to FP.
Today we booked our tickets and we wil arrive on the 9th of May. Our flight back is on the 30st of May. This means we have 18 nights on FP Because it is pretty expensive to visit FB from the netherlands we want to get as much from this trip as we can
We plan to visit several Islands and atoll's and need some help with the itinerary.
- Arrival Tahiti ( one night) - 4 nights Moorea ( pensioen les tipaniers) - 3 nights Maupiti - 2-3 nights Bora Bora - 3 nights rangirao - 3 nights tikehau - last night on Tahiti
Our intention for this holiday is, relaxing, enjoying the Islands views and an occasional dive.
Please comment and suggest. I you have tips on guesthouses please feel free to mention them. We have forecasted about 100 euro's per night for the both of us (cheaper is better Hahaha)
Thanks in advance.

Small edit:
We have 20 nights instead of 18, so we have some more time to spend.

Hi Angelo, Welcome to the forum!
Wow, you are planning to see quite a few islands in only 18 nights! You will spend quite a lot of time in transports and waiting for interisland flights with this itinerary -- close to half a day for each island transfer, coming and going -- so you might want to consider cutting out one or more islands from your schedule, to provide more relaxation time.
My first suggestion is to maybe eliminate the 3 nights on Maupiti (and add them to your stays on either Moorea or Bora Bora). You can visit Maupiti as a day trip from Bora Bora by taking the Maupiti Express ferry, and there really is not much to see on Maupiti, which has no resorts, only small guest houses and pensions.
For your overnights (arrival and departure) in Tahiti, I would highly recommend Fare Suisse, a small guest house close to the Papeete airport, within walking distance to the Papeete waterfront shops and roulottes and market. The owner Beni will include transport to and from the airport as part of the price, which is quite a savings over taxis.
Les Tipaniers is a good choice for Moorea, but I would also recommend checking out Moorea Fare Miti, which has a larger bungalow and a nicer beach for about the same price or less. The downside is that Fare Miti has no housekeeping -- a true pension -- and no restaurant on the premises, while Les Tipaniers has two restaurants and daily housekeeping. Both properties are in easy walking distance to shops, groceries, and restaurants.
As for Rangiroa and Tikehau, you might consider just choosing one of them; again, it's up to you, but that is a LOT of island-hopping for the amount of time you will be in FP!
Also, check out the multi-island airpass schedule and fares on www.airtahiti.com, which might influence your choices of islands and also the order in which you decide to see them.
Have fun with your planning -- it sounds like an exciting trip!

Hi Angelo, It is an ambitious itinerary for 20 days. Keep in mind that you basically loose a day when travelling between islands, but it's also part of the trip. We did much of the same last June: Fakarava (5 nights), Bora (4 nights), Maupiti (5 nights), Moorea (6 nights), Tahiti (1).
Barbi is a fountain of information when is comes to FP! However, I must respectfully disagree with her when it comes to Maupiti! There are things to do!
We flew from Bora Bora to Maupiti (15-minute flight) after 4 nights in BB. We stayed 5 nights in Maupiti and we could have stayed longer! Indeed, it's small and not touristy at all, but this is what we were looking for. Every morning before breakfast, the caretaker of the pension would take us for a 60-second boat ride, right in front of the pension to swim with giant manta rays. This alone was the highlight of our whole trip! One morning, there was 5 mantas and 12 spotted eagle rays. It was just incredible! We toured the island by bike, stopping here and there for fruit or to buy souvenirs in small boutiques. You can also hike 2 of the mountains for a spectacular 360 view. It all depends what kind of trip you're looking for. THere is no night life to speak of in FP, and especially not in Maupiti!
One thing is certain it's that we will go back to Maupiti again, at least another 5 nights. We stayed at Pension Papahani, highly recommended. The food was great and plenty of it! Very clean, very quiet, very beautiful. I can provide pictures if you need.
On Moorea, I agree with Barbi that Les Tipaniers is a great spot. We couldn't stay there (no room) so we stayed at Hotel Hibiscus, just beside les Tipaniers. We liked it too.
If you are looking for a small pension on Bora Bora, I suggest Blue Heaven Island. We stayed there in 2009 and almost did in 2011, but a friend came through with a great price for the St.Regis, so we stayed there. However, I would go back to BHI in a minute. It's a great little pension at a fraction of the big resort prices.
Cheers!
Andie

Thanks for the reply's everyone.
As mentioned it is still a draft hahaha.
The reason i included Maupiti is that there is an cleaning station for manta ray's and i would love to make a dive there. Second reason is that we traveld in asia and came across a small islamd group called the Perhentians in Malaysia. We stayed for 3 nights on a secluded island and loved it hahaha.
Giving the things and day's availeble. What would you suggest for us to do?
- First stop one atol ( wich one is the most beautifull, and how many days?) - then bora bora (day's? ) - and then dividing the remaining day's on other islands?
I have a lonely planet as a starting guide, but i trust experience's more then a book hahaha.
@Andie,
I would love to see some pictures.

Angelo - The cleaning station was right in front of our pension in Maupiti. If you're into this, I would strongly suggest you include Maupiti on your itinerary. Send me your email at afbelanger at gmail.com and I'll send you some pictures and video of the manta rays.
