I tried searching through the forum for an answer before posting but was only able to find an old post by Lovnlife that never quite answered the question. We are planning to stay at Le Moana this May in a Horizon OTW and I have only found one recommendation for bungalow #27 on another website. Does anyone know which ones would be the best of the Horizon bungalows to try and reserve? Thanks in advance!

"Best" is subjective, according to what you are looking for... Here's a link to a map of the OWBs at the Moana (which used to be called the "Beachcomber," and still is by some of the locals); maybe this will help with your decision?

Thanks for posting the map, Barbara. We didn't stay at Le Moana, but we did walk around it 8 years ago (so my info is dated, but the positioning of the bungalows won't have changed). The highest-numbered bungalows on the right (on the map) are the farthest out on the point of land. They're farthest if you're walking into "town" (it's not a town there, but has restaurants, stores and other resorts). So if you don't like walking, stay in the lower-numbered bungalows. If you don't mind walking, those high-numbered bungalows will be a bit quieter (assuming the neighbours--locals--aren't loud).

If it were me, I'd pick any number from 12 to 27 or 73 or 74. And I like the numbers I mentioned above because you'll get a good view of Mount Otemanu (what I think "makes" Bora Bora), yet still have some privacy. 26, 27, 73, and 74 would be prime choices because they're the most private and would have views of both Mount Otemanu and the motu that the Sofitel Motu is on (it's a pretty view, too, especially lit up at night).

That is just perfect! Thank you so much! Walking definitely isnt a problem for us and I think I have to agree that based on the map anything from 22-27 should have a good view of Mount O, with 26 and 27 being primo like you said! Now who knows if we'll have any luck actually reserving either of those.

26 and 27 would also make be the closest for swimming to the Sofitel motu as well :)

You can always email the resort about 3 weeks ahead and give them a few numbers of the bungalows you want. We found we either got the ones we wanted or very close (in one case, the resort made a better choice for us than we had). Tell them which numbers and why and they'll usually do the best they can for you (most people don't research and ask for specific ones, so those who do often get what they ask for).

Thanks Old Wife! And since we are on the topic of best bungalows, we are also planning to stay in a deep OTW at Te Tiare on Huahine. I found a map layout online but it doesnt have room numbers. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for the OTW's at the Te Tiare as well?

Hi Dukeford, we just got back from Te Tiare, check our trip report for specific bungalows (we think 39 and 40 are the best deep OWB)

Thanks Gary & Cath! I booked our honeymoon today and had the travel agent note our request for 39 at the Te Tiare and 26 or 27 at Le Moana. I will email the resorts directly as well, just in case that gives us any better chance. In your trip report you mentioned 15 and 39 had double insulation? What did you mean exactly? And I am assuming 15 is not a deep OTW since they only have 11 of them?

Yep, I think 15 is one of the beach or garden ones. The manager there (Jacques) told us that they only put double insulation in those two bungalows, ie keeps heat out and keeps cool air inside cooler whilst running the air-con.

I assume that the insulation is in the roof lining and walls - it also keeps down any outside noise, ie when a family with a couple of toddlers move in next door to your bungalow!!!
