Hello! I am a new member and I am searching for someone that speaks Polynesian as a first language to translate a phrase for me. I love Polynesian art and have a Polynesian tribal tattoo. The reason for my tattoo was in memory of a friend I lost many years ago in a car accident. I would like to write beside my tattoo "See you in the breeze" in Polynesian. I would greatly appreciate someone that could tell me how to spell this.

Was your friend Tahitian (vs. Fijian or Hawaiian or Maori, etc.)? The various polynesian languages are definitely related (even to the casual observer), but aren't exactly the same. Just thought I'd ask, to make sure your tattoo ends up having the exact words your friend would have used.

When seeking a translation of the phrase "See you in the breeze," also look for other words that convey the same meaning; for example, "[I will] reunite with you/ remember you with/during the wind." The literal translation you seek of "see you on the breeze" may not translate to the same message you want in Tahitian.

Ia ora Na Falkongirl. Tahitian language does not translate word by word but rather circumstances and/or a description. Please let me know what you mean by "see you in the breeze" (especially the "breeze" word

Poehere, I think "breeze" is referring to a gentle wind. "See you" would be like "vous revoir" in French.

Tx Barbi a translation of "see you in the breeze" would be: "Ite atu ai ia oe i roto i te mata'i puhihau"

or as an alternative : "an affectionate (or caressing) breeze reminds me of you":
"E mata'i puhihau teie e horomiri nei, e mana'oraa ia oe na'u"

but as said to translate that in Tahitian makes long phrases, maybe not suitable for a "small" tattoo....

Guess the translation did not suit you? Why waste other people's time huh? Strange!

You came though with an answer to a tough question again, Poehere! Perhaps the OP hasn't had a chance to get back here yet... But thanks from the rest of us!
