The InterContinental Resort and Thalasso Spa Bora Bora redefines the traditional over water bungalow concept by offering 80 luxurious over water villas (each of them encompassing more than 100 square meter in space) that overlook the clear blue waters of the lagoon and tu stunning scenery of Bora Bora:
* 21 “Emerald” Over water villas with a view over the beach and the motu
* 24 “Sapphire” Over water villas with an excellent view over the lagoon and the island of Bora Bora

The villas have roofs of pandanus thatch as did the traditional Polynesian homes called fare.
All overwater bungalows have direct access into the lagoon from their split-level decks equipped of a dining table and bathing chairs.

A « must » is breakfast delivery by flower decorated outrigger canoe (to order the day before and weather permitting) straight to the terraces of the overwater villas.

The 21 Emerald Villas feature wonderful views over the Motu Piti Aau and the white sand beach bordered by the clear blue waters of the lagoon. Situated close to the resort buildings, they have a roomy area of 100 sq meter, including the split-level terrace and the sundeck from which you step into the warm lagoon..

The 24 Sapphire Villas feature one of the most remarkable views over the clear blue waters of the lagoon and Bora Bora island. Situated between the Emerald and Diamond Villas, they have a roomy area of 100 sq meter, including the split-level terrace and the sundeck from which you step into the warm lagoon.

The 35 Diamond Villas feature a spectacular view over Mount Otemanu. They are situated in absolute peace, in the furthest out from the resort in the turquoise waters of the lagoon. They have a roomy area of 100 sq meter, including the split-level terrace and the sundeck from which you step into the warm lagoon. You can even enjoy a private fresh outside shower when you drag yourself away from the lagoon after your swin of snorkeling expedition. If you did not book your accommodations to fit in with normal check in time of 2:00 pm or if you book a late departure after normal check out time of 11:00 am , you may request the complimentary use of one of five special changing & shower rooms on the spot (not bookable in advance and available for 30 minutes maximum). 

Sea water air-conditioning system:
The feasibility of using cold seawater to directly cool buildings has been studied and analyzed for many years. In 1975, the US Department of Energy funded a program entitled "Feasibility of a District Cooling System Utilizing Cold Seawater." [Hirshman et al]. Several locations were studied and the two most favorable sites were Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Honolulu. The study, however, noted that one of the limiting technical factors was the inability to deploy large diameter pipelines to depths of 1500' and more. At certain locations, succesful installation and operation has occurred. Large lakes may also provide nearby sources of cold water for cooling.

The Thalasso Spa:
Encompassing nearly an acre, the Thalasso Spa is the first of its kind in the entire southern hemisphere. Redefining the spa concept in French Polynesia, the Thalasso Spa is a true destination spa - offering healing spa therapies by treatment, by day, and by full customized weekly regimen.
A full Thalasso and Balneo center designed by the famed Dr. Yves Dr. Yves Treguer who designed Monaco's thermal baths, and managed by the Algotherm company whose reputation and expertise extends the world over.
The spa uses mineral-rich deep seawater in innovative signature treatments and a variety of hydro-therapies, including medicinal therapies. The Thalasso Spa will feature a huge Aquatonic seawater pool, oriental Hammam, a fitness and aerobic room, and glass-bottom overwater massage suites. Guests will have the opportunity to be guided towards personal fitness or health goals by the spa's team of therapists and specialists with personalized programs and nutritional menus tailored to their individual needs.
